Red Rabbit Racing

On a dreary rainy day, we debuted our latest RaceHorse, Majestic Hero, and about the only thing we can say is....

WELL, WE WEREN'T LAST !

After a 2 year absence from the racing scene, Red Rabbit Racing had claimed a 3 year old colt on May 24th at AP and happily got back in the game.  Named Majestic Hero, we claimed him on the low end at $12.5 out of a six furlong sprint.

He ran poorly in the race that we claimed him in, so we thought we would run him back for the same tag - only this time putting him on the turf and stretching him out to a mile & a 16th.

DIDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE !

A monsoon that day had delayed the races by about an hour and had caused the turf to be abandoned, but we didn't scratch and had the rail against a field of 7 on the Main Track.   We started well and laid about 3rd place tucked inside, but midway through the 2nd turn, you could plainly see Jockey Jose Lopez was pushing him hard yet he was already starting to back up.

PRETTY TOUGH KNOWING YOUR DONE WITH 3 FURLONGS IN THE RACE STILL LEFT TO GO!

Our hero faded to 6th place, earning us not a single dollar to even pay the Jock's fee.   Boo Hoo.

But we believe in a Merciful Creator, and unbelievably he blessed us with some fool who stepped up and claimed this turkey out from under us.  That's right, running 6th in this race, after running 6th in the race we claimed him in, inexplicably Trainer Mike Reavis plops down a claim slip on us and promptly takes our mule away - the only claim in the race.

BET YOUR OWNER LIKED THAT PICK!

Mike claimed our 1st horse Marion's Man back in 2005 after just our 2nd race.   He had a bit of success with MM - but GOOD LUCK with MH!

Don't know that Majestic Hero really likes racing. Just look at his eyes in the Background graphic - to me they look really sad, like he doesn't like what he's doing.  Beaten & claimed again, certainly not the result he wanted either.....   Farewell Good Friend!

But hey, we always have fun and yesterday was no exception - even given the result.   All the partners were there, including Founder Rabbit, Peggy.  Money Rabbit Jean was there, along with Dancing Rabbit Jeff.  Babe Rabbit Aly Grewe was there, Teacher Rabbit Ben was routing our Hero on, with Bossy Rabbit Laurie and Fitness Rabbit Nancy making up the ownership stable.

Big news yesterday was that Money Rabbit's son John & his Beauty fiancée Brittney had their wedding shower earlier that day and all the ladies sprinted (far faster than our horse ran) to the track to make the race.   Picture below features Brittney in her Bridal sash holding court over the entire proceedings in the Paddock.

Also, we were happy to welcome Cousin Bobby Ruehrdanz and his boys who happened to be at the track yesterday.   I believe they loved the whole racing scene and I think they will be back for our next race.   At least we hope so.  We love our family.   Thanks to all who came out.

Upper left has Dawson Rabbit, newborn son of Aly & Brian Grewe taking in his 1st race!  Loved the action, but was clearly not impressed with the Result.  We will do better next time, Dawson!

WELL, HORSELESS AGAIN - BUT HOPEFULLY NOT FOR LONG!
